First and foremost, let’s color! This “veggies and a peace sign” coloring sheet was recommended by Amy on the G-O-B-S-M-C-G-Juice Facebook page. Enjoy!
If you haven’t already met my hamster-friend, let me introduce you. Cute, huh? I want to share a little about what we feed Buddy, since his diet is vegan and he seems to really enjoy his food.
The majority of his diet consists of this Ecotrition organic blend. One bag lasts the little guy months and months, and the ingredients are pretty solid (organic alfalfa forage, oat groats, wheat, millet, milo, corn, soybeans, pumpkin seed, papaya, banana, flax…). Buddy had been eating some questionable food when we adopted him (as consumers, have hamsters really expressed a need for bright green, yellow, and red food?) but he transitioned over to this stuff with no complaints.
In addition to the dry blend, Buddy eats various veggies, nuts, and seeds throughout the week. His favorites are cucumber, romaine lettuce, broccoli, spinach, cashews, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, hemp seeds, and flax seeds. Sometimes he’s super pumped about wheatgrass, and other times not. He loves fruit but receives it very rarely since dwarf hamsters are prone to diabetes. He also gets a cooked chickpea or a couple lentils once in a while– yum! For more info on foods that hamsters can and cannot eat, I recommend checking out a book about hamster care. There is plenty to read online (here, for example) but it’s hard to gauge the reliability.

I’m giving away a free book this Sunday… to enter, show us your Ingvar!
This is the last week of the book sale- 25% off at ThoraThinks.com. Is there a bookstore, co-op, or veg store that you’d like to see carrying Garlic-Onion-Beet-Spinach-Mango-Carrot-Grapefruit Juice? Let me know!
For those of you who are anxiously awaiting spring, here is something to color:
We’ve had some sunny days here in Nashville lately, and I really cannot wait for spring to emerge! I’m looking forward to being reunited with sugar snap peas, garlic scapes, fresh flowers, sunshine, farmers markets, and outdoor square dances. My goal this year is to spend more time working at my CSA farm and more time preserving veggies. Oh yeah! And to start another book.
Lately I’ve been working on various art projects- collaborating with other artists, making videos, performances, etc. I’ve also been spending lots of time experimenting in the kitchen. There’s a lot of dehydrating, fermenting, and soup-making going on. For a little Valentine treat, I made Ani Phyo’s raw raspberry ganache fudge cake and it was delicious! I plan to make this cake again, but want to find a good substitute for the 1/4 c of agave.
I’ve been doing some fun projects with my young friends at the University School of Nashville. Yesterday we made a stop motion animation with clay figures, called “Exploring the Jungle.” Had it not been such a bustling work environment I would have photographed the process to share here, because this would be a great weekend project for kids to do at home. I’ll take pictures for you next time!
Lastly, an update on my smallest friend ever! Buddy (my dwarf hamster) is doing really well and is thoroughly enjoying his awesome new house. When we adopted him, he came in a too-small tank. My partner Ki constructed this wonderful (big) house for the little guy, and I’m so happy to see him run and play!
Ki reflecting on his creation-
Here’s a new, snowy coloring page for you! WOOHOO!
More to come! : )
I hope everyone enjoyed the holidays, and that you’re all settling into the new year. I gave myself a nice, long break from working. : ) I’ve been getting organized and figuring out what kinds of things I want to do with ThoraThinks this year. I’m also spending lots of time with my new hamster friend, Buddy, who is living in my home studio. My partner Ki has been building Buddy a sweet hamster house! Buddy is very cute and soft, and he really likes these things: running in his wheel, cashews, pumpkin seeds, lettuce, and sleeping. I think Santa left him a pumpkin seed in his stocking.

Don’t forget to visit the Garlic-Onion-Beet-Spinach-Mango-Carrot-Grapefruit Juice Facebook page for updates, giveaways, and more.
Happy New Year!
My friend Luke and I made this very fancy book commercial that I think you’ll enjoy. : )
Also, one final reminder… Place your order by this Friday if you want your package delivered before Christmas. Some items are still on sale at the ThoraThinks store. Check it out!
I hope everyone is doing well and staying warm. I’ve been spending lots of time crafting with friends, making soup, and playing with my new adopted hamster-buddy!
